    • Players that "reroll" must choose an Essentials character and can only use Essentials material for that character, including items. When selecting choices, make sure you select something from one of the Essentials sources. The easiest way to do this is to list the items by source.
    • If, at any time, every character is from Essentials, we will only use Essentials game rules and options.

  • Houses Rules were updated with changes to the hex exploration rules. The changes are:
    • Exploring will require a different Endurance check, even when exploration is successful, but failure will only be -1 surge
    • Regaining lost healing surges from exploration will require a rest in a civilized area, or an equivalent. These rules are almost the same as the Environmental Endurance rolls in RC-178, which we'll also be using when appropriate.
    • The DC to explore a hex was changed from a hard Nature DC roll (which is tied to character level) to a fixed Nature DC of 22. This represents characters getting better at exploring over time. 22 is actually 1 lower than what was being used for the party's L6 explorer (Quinn).
    • All of these changes should allow me to set combats closer to the party's level instead of party level plus 3-4 and monster levels up to 8 over the party's level.
    • See the "TRAVEL" section of the House Rules for the details.

  • The Deities section in the Houses Rules was updated to exclude 4e gods. It now reads: "Only the deities from and Pathfinder Chronicles will be used. Keep in mind, many D&D 4e deities exist in the Golarion world. See the Kings Of Kings Wikidot site for a summary of every god in Golarion. Any benefits characters receive from 4e gods will be mapped to a Golarion god. See with if you have one of these."

I altered the House Rule for returning to life.

This rule exists for a couple of reasons. First, to give death meaning. Second, to prevent abuse, intentional or not. The 4e rules allow for situations where death is a viable, and preferable, option to trying to stay alive. With many ways to come back to life, especially in epic tier, a rule is needed to give death some amount of fear. A non-suicidal character should never want to die! Here's the new rule:

Every time a living creature comes back to life (from death), regardless of how, they must make a Soul Save or their soul is permanently gone and can never return to life. A roll of 1 always fails and a roll of 20 always succeeds.
